Yankee Zulu story is quite long since the wood to build the main spar was received about fifteen years before maiden flight. It was started nearby Nancy and sold a first time in Oise district, the Tempete #78 was bought in 1990 by Arnaud Gruet.

Two years later Arnaud resold her to Serge Séguret who just sold his Tempete F-PYFA. Serge worked on the plane during two years before reselling to the Sarrès family on the Nangis airfield. Michel and his son Fredéric then spent three years to ending up, finally take-off in May 2001, ten days before "Aubigny sur Nère" JAF meeting, where she was the only innovation. The plane is motorized by Lycoming O-320 150 hp equipped with an electronic ignition, Christen and a Ellison carburetor.

In 2002, the F-PXYZ joined the Nangis-Alpha patrol and got a smoke-making device.
